The 1953 Swiss Grand Prix took place at the Bremgarten circuit high in the Swiss mountains. It was a 65 lap race over a 4.5 mile circuit. Fangio put his Maserati on pole. For the third race in a row, he grabbed the lead off the line, but lost it before the completion of the first lap. It is going to be interesting if this trend continues next season, under new regulations. Fangio eventually fell behind a trio of Ferrari 500’s. Indeed, it would be a Scuderia Ferrari podium of Ascari ,Farina, and Hawthorn. Ascari’s win was sufficient to mathematically secure the 1953 Formula 1 championship. Farina was a distant second in the points, followed by Fangio.
